The Science of Spray: Surfactants vs. Stickers
Using the correct adjuvant is “Spray Insurance.” We categorize our solutions by their technical function:
- Spreaders (Surfactants): Break surface tension so spray flattens and covers the entire leaf instead of rolling off.
- Stickers: Provide “Rainfastness,” gluing the medicine to the leaf to resist rain and heavy dew.
- Water Conditioners: Critical for Khara Pani (Hard Water). These neutralize the pH to prevent your expensive chemicals from being deactivated in the tank.
The W.A.L.E.S. Protocol: The Correct Mixing Order
To avoid “Curdling” (Phitki banna) and clogged nozzles, always follow this order:
- W – Wettable Powders (WP) / Granules (WDG)
- A – Agitate thoroughly
- L – Liquid flowables (SC)
- E – Emulsifiable concentrates (EC)
- S – Surfactants & Adjuvants (Always Add Last!)
Expert Adjuvant FAQ
Q: Can I use laundry soap as a sticker?
A: No. Household soaps are often ionic and can cause Phytotoxicity (Crop Burn). Only use non-ionic agricultural surfactants for safety.
Q: What is “Over-Wetting”?
A: If spray droplets slide off the leaf and drip onto the ground, you’ve added too much adjuvant. This reduces your efficacy and wastes money.
Q: Does Khara Pani (Hard Water) affect my spray?
A: Yes. Minerals in hard water bind to pesticides (especially Glyphosate), making them ineffective. Always add a water conditioner before adding your pesticide.
